My Thankgiving Thoughts

All righty, peoples. Do you know what is coming? THANKSGIVING IS COMING!!!

I love Thanksgiving.

Maybe it has something to do with all of the delicious food, but I think it mostly has to do with being around some of my favorite people all day (or most of the day) but it also has to do with getting ready first Christmas!

It isn’t even December yet, but I keep thinking about Christmas. I don’t remember a time when I didn’t love Christmas.

I had different views about it when I was younger, I mean I liked geting gifts, but now that I understand more of why we get gifts– but more importantly give gifts– it is even more incredible.

But just like every else, sin taints it. Satan (or I’ve heard before that we give Satan too much credit, so maybe just people?) twists it and turns it into something less then godly.

Thanksgiving isn’t even here but already on the TV they are talking about getting what you want and on sale (and in case you don’t know, you can start your shopping on Thanksgiving– you don’t have to wait until Black Friday! Yay! *sarcasm*)

So we are just going to skip over one of the most important days of the year, a day to reflect on all that we have and remember to be thankful for it all, and just go straight to an, “I WANT IT ALL!” attitude?

Nice.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I’ve started my Christmas shopping. And like I said, I love Christmas!

But I love the songs, and giving gifts, and even if you want me to say I like getting gifts I do– but I hate the worlds attitude of Christmas.

Christmas isn’t about ME. What I want. What I ‘need’.

It’s about Jesus, and I really wish people would realize that.

So this Thanksgiving, take a minute to think about all the things you are thankful for. Maybe you have to work? Thank God you have a job! Maybe your family drives you nuts? Thank God that you have a family!

Take a moment to realize how blessed you really are. Because THAT is what Thanksgiving is about. It’s about giving thanks, not counting down the hours until you can get that super-cool-usually-expensive-thingy that you’ve been waiting to get until it went on sale.

Just remember to give thanks first. 🙂

Happy Thanksgiving, all!
