Currently~ October 2016

Hi, all! It is October first now, and Fall is (and has been for a little bit) officially here!

And since it is, I figured it was a good time to do a ‘Currently’ blog post!

Reading~ A Lady Unrivaled by Roseanna M. White

So far I like it! Look for a review coming up soonish.

*ahem* I mean, I’ve been wanting to watch The Sound Of Music for weeks and you know? I can’t find our copy anywhere! I even looked places I knew it wouldn’t, and even went into the dark depths of the closet where we keep the Christmas stuff and I still couldn’t find it! I’ll just have to buy my own personal copy, but it still made me sad.

Anyway, I AM watching Hart of Dixie season three. I’m not sure what I’ll watch after this, though….

Writing~ A few months ago I started a new story for an idea I’ve had a for a little while now… but the idea was still too small, and even though it was an ‘old’ idea, it wasn’t big enough yet, it still needs time to grow into something big. So I wrote a few hundred words, and the happy feeling pattered out and I knew, what I knew when I began the story: there isn’t enough.

So, after not writing again for a few weeks, I started writing another idea that I’ve had for awhile. A bigger idea. An idea I love and I think I can actually finish. You know what it is? A SEQUEL!!ย (That will take you to another blog post I did where I talked about my story a little bit.)

It isn’t a sequel to my WWII story, but to the story I finished before that one, called Pieces of My Heart. ๐Ÿ˜€ Here is the Pinterest board if you want to look at it!

Eating~ At this very moment… nothing. ๐Ÿ˜‰ But I did get some caramel so I can make caramel apples again! The last time I made them– my first time making them– was three years ago, the same year I started blogging.

(Oh yeah, so um, happy birthday, Naomiandbooks…)

Looking forward to~ Besides fall? I’m really looking forward to fall. ๐Ÿ˜€ I’m, of course, looking forward to the holidays. (ALWAYS) Honestly, I’m just interested to see where this next time/phase of life is going to take me.

OH! And I’m looking forward to the Celtic Festival that’s coming up in a few weeks! That’s always a good time. Well, except for that time my sister Kristin and I were walking by ourselves and this creeper older guy drove up and was like, “Hi girls, need a ride?” He drove off and Kristin and I were like, “Walkย faster, walk faster, walk faster.” Oh, and then there was that other time I got a ring stuck on my finger, I feared forever. (or losing my finger.)

So that’s what’s going on Currently. But I also feel like this was also a throwback post– I linked a lot of stuff I wrote a long time ago….

What’s going on with YOU currently?

Hello, Fall

Hello, Fall

When I think of fall I think of the pretty colors the leaves change into. I think of nights Iย actually begin to need the extra blankets on my bed.

Drinking hot tea, and wearing sweaters. Jeans. Boots. Maybe a scarf that I made myself.

I always love writing, but for some reason the fall just puts me in a even bigger mood to write. Maybe it has something to do with NaNoWriMo?

Fall means cold toes and wearing slippers.

I’ll have to readjust to wearing socks inside– during the summer I got used to having bare feet and now when I where socks without shoes it bothers me. Haha!

It means (hopefully!) work will be less busy, because people will be traveling less.

It means that everything gets to be flavored pumpkin and maybe even dyed orange if it is particularly unlucky.

The days get shorter, and the holidays get closer.

And for some reason, I think Fall is my favorite season.

Come at us, Fall, and stay awhile.

June 2015– Currently

I did a post like this a while ago, and wanted to do another, but wanted to avoid being repetitive (besides getting fired and whatnot– a post for a different time maybe, haha. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) But now I figured I’ve waited long enough and can do another post on what I’m Currently doing/listening/reading/etc.

Rachel Coker

Should be reading Interuppted: A Life Without Words by Rachel Coker. (I say should be because I got it from the library awhile ago, had to renew it and I still think I’m on the first couple of chapters. Don’t get me wrong, I read it a long time ago and loved it! Sometimes it just takes me awhile to get back into reading after taking a little break. Plues, I was reading a different book on my kindle app a few days ago…)

Looking forward to fall! Even though it’s June, it has been chillier the last few days, and feeling like fall. I may not be ready for winter again, but fall is my favorite season. ๐Ÿ™‚

Writing a World War II story. It’s been fun, and challenging. Some of it’s been hard, and I know after the first drafts it’s going to need a LOT of work.

Looking forward to going to spending time with two of my favorite sisters this weekend! (also looking forward to not working…)

So that’s enough me. ๐Ÿ™‚ What about you?

Winning unhappily, Losing laughingly

One time, several years ago, I ran in a three legged race. I think it as my first three legged race I had ever ran in.

I ran in the race with my friend Mary Ann. I think it was just us against two boys, because I don’t remember running against anyone else.

We could’ve won. Honestly, though, the boys were in the dust. ๐Ÿ˜€

We were laughing so hard, though, we fell down. We just thought it was the greatest thing ever. We just laid on the ground laughing– even though we knew if we didn’t get up and keep running we’d lose.

I remember when we were down on the ground, I looked behind and I saw the boys faces… and they looked so determined and serious, they weren’t laughing at all.

We ended up losing to the boys, but we still laughed about it.

Even after the boys won, I don’t remember them being happy about it.

So, is it better to win unhappily, or lose laughingly? I think I’d rather lose laughingly. I still think we had a better time in the race then the boys.

The only thing on the boys minds was winning. I’m not sure what was on my mind, really. I’m pretty sure, though, I didn’t mind knowing I wasn’t going to win. As I laid laughing on the ground, I remember hearing the person in charge cheer us on, and if we hadn’t stayed on the ground so long we could’ve won. (I wasn’t joking when I said we left them in the dust.)

Anyways, sometimes it really isn’t about winning, but playing the game. Maybe it isn’t really about playing the game, either, just about enjoying yourselves. (I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s had fun playing a game ignoring the rules and still having fun… ๐Ÿ™‚

So have a good day today. Laugh when you play a game (even if you are behind or you fall down or both). Laugh as you watch others play a game, even if you don’t know WHY you’re laughing, keep laughing. Laughter is fun. ๐Ÿ˜€

What if…

A lot of people, myself included, can wonder ‘what if’ quite a bit.

“What if it rains?” “What if we’re late?” “What if the party is really boring?” There are so many ‘what if’s you could wonder. “What if this bad thing happens? What if this worse thing happens? What if this worst thing happens?”

One day, I decided if someone was going to wonder all of the negative ‘what if’s they might as well go the opposite extreme and look on the bright side too.

“What if there is a rainbow?” “What if we’re late because if we left on time we’d be in a car accident?” “What if the party is a lot of fun and you don’t want it to end?”

I’m not exactly a super positive person, and I’m not usually a super negative person either. I’m just somewhere in the middle.

Once while I was with two ofย my sister and a couple of our friends, we were eating dinner at Chic-fil-A and it was decided, “Samantha’s optimistic, Kristin’s pessimistic, and I’m just over here eating.” It fits. ๐Ÿ™‚

So don’t go overboard worry over what could go wrong, because it could go extremely well. Now, it may go neither and be some where in the middle, which I feel is probably the most likely for everyday life.

The last time I went to New Hampshire, I went in October. The leaves were supposed to be in their peak. All bright and beautiful, but…. it didn’t work out that way.

Most of the trees weren’t all bright and vibrant, but every now and then we would see and bright tree. One bright tree and a mountainside filled with… not so bright trees.

Maybe, even if the bad ‘what if’ happened, maybe it wouldn’t be as bad as you first thought it would.

Maybe it’ll rain, maybe there won’t be a rainbow, but you could still play in it. ๐Ÿ˜€ (as long there isn’t any thunder and lightning, ’cause that would be a different story…) ๐Ÿ˜‰

One of the prettier trees we saw.

One of the prettier trees we saw. ๐Ÿ™‚
